Chapter Seven

“Ladies and gentlemen? Thank you for attending our annual Medieval event.” One of the park rangers announced.

After Lizzy, Paula, and the Otters couple interacted, they paused in their conversation when they heard the announcement the event was going to take place. Lizzy looked up towards the sky and she guessed the hour was the Angelus; she smiled as this was one of her favorite prayers to Mary, Our Blessed Mother.

She began praying this and Paula, as well as the Otter couple joined her. She liked sharing this prayer and Marina loved how Our Blessed Mother was with her when she did. When they finished, everyone looked around them; the prayer gave them peace and Lizzy liked feeling this comfort.

“Best things first,” Paula began, as she looked about, “the event is going to last all day and I wouldn’t mind looking around the shops. I hope you don’t mind, Lizzy?”

Lizzy looked at Paula and she raised a brow. She knew her friend like to spend her time at events as these but it if involved shopping? Lizzy offered a prayer before she answered. “No; I don’t mind. You go on and enjoy yourself and when we do meet up again,” Lizzy looked for a good place and noticed an old stump in the center, before she finished, “we will check back there. That old stump will do.”

“Ah, the old stump.” Mr. Otters remarked. The ladies looked at him and Lizzy liked how humorous Mr. Otters was; but it was even more touching when his wife interacted with him. Lizzy prayed she would find a man as him but that but that would occur in God’s timing.

“Mr. Otters, come.” Mrs. Otters said. She touched his hand and was about to lead him towards another tent, when he captured her hand. Lizzy and Paula watched as he brought his wife’s hand up to his before he lightly kissed it. Lizzy tried her best not to watch but she smiled as she turned away. She knew the Otter couple liked to flirt with each other and they didn’t care who watched.

But when the announcer added more to what was going to happen, Lizzy and the others listened. Lizzy heard that the contest for archery was going to be on one part of the park; whereas jousting and the places where the shops would be open. Lizzy knew Paula was going to go and shop; the Otter couple was going to reenact and Lizzy knew where she was going to go.

Remembering what the doctor informed her about, Lizzy looked at the others before they parted for the moment. She smiled when Paula said she wouldn’t be too far and the Otters blessed her and hoped to see her again. Lizzy thanked them all before they left for their places. Lizzy knew she wanted to watch the archery contest and she was excited as she made her way over. But she paused when she passed by a stand; one of the dresses captured her attention.

A kindly lady, who was dressed in a Medieval dress, noticed Lizzy was looking at this dress.
